Rivals unite to create formidable agency

Clemenger BBDO will close its Adelaide office and the majority of its staff and clients will move into local independent agency KWP.

Clemenger Group Chairman Robert Morgan said that whilst he was sad to see the Adelaide office close, he felt the acquisition by KWP represented the best outcome for his agency's staff and clients.

The new agency now combines the powerful resources of Adelaide's two leading ad agencies enabling it to further enhance its offering to existing and other South Australian based clients.
It also enables KWP to pursue its aggressive growth plans outside of its local market, fundamentally exporting its expertise to other states.

"Being independent and nimble, but offering a complete package is an attractive proposition to clients here and interstate," says KWP managing director John Baker. "We have the capabilities, credentials and desire to be a truly borderless agency.

"This is less about new people and clients joining KWP, it's more about relaunching the new KWP. The combined creative and strategic strength in conjunction with the complete in-house media, digital and data analysis capabilities creates a formidable and truly full-service agency."

Clemenger BBDO Adelaide's digital and social media team along with a number of key staff will all move to KWP from January 1, 2015.

Former Clemenger BBDO Adelaide managing director Kim Boehm will join the board of KWP as part of an arrangement that will see KWP have an ongoing strategic alliance with the Clemenger Group.
